May is American Stroke Month, a time to raise awareness about stroke and its prevention. As you may know, stroke is a leading cause of disability and death in the United States. However, many strokes can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle and managing risk factors.

As part of the American Heart Association's Phase 3 Target: Stroke initiative, we are committed to reducing the incidence and impact of stroke. This initiative aims to improve the quality of stroke care by increasing the number of stroke patients who receive timely treatment.

Here are some ways you can help support the fight against stroke:

  • Learn the warning signs of stroke and act quickly if you or someone you know is experiencing them.
  • Adopt a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet, getting regular exercise, managing stress, and not smoking.
  • Manage your risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes, by working with your healthcare provider.

Together, we can make a difference in the fight against stroke. Let's raise awareness and take action to reduce the burden of this devastating disease.
