The Food and Nutrition Services department is responsible for preparation and serving appropriate food to patients, employees, medical staff and visitors. The director works with the dietitian to administer the nutritional aspects of patient care. There are 22 employees in this department.

Patient meals are served at the times listed below. We may change this schedule to ensure your needs are met and your comfort is assured. Kosher, vegetarian and a la carte meals are available upon request. Therapeutic diets are served per physician's orders. Patients are encouraged to ask nursing for any special requests.
If your meal isn't warm and appetizing, tell us, and we'll fix that. If the person serving your meal isn't friendly and respectful, we want to know that also. The Food and Nutrition Services department wants to be part of your excellent experience at SGMH.
- Breakfast: 7am to 9:30 am
- Lunch: 10 am to 1:30 pm
- Dinner: 3pm to 6 pm
- Snacks: 10 am, 2 pm and 8 pm
We ask that families and other visitors consult with the patient's nurse before bringing food to the hospital.
After hours, the house supervisor may obtain prepackaged food. Dietitian consultation is in-house on weekdays and by phone after hours.
